I have been selected for a small honour in my office. Nevertheless, I am absolutely thrilled. My friend TJM comes and congratulates me. She holds my hand and says how she really wanted me to get the honour when she was asked by the boss to propose a name. I feel good about it, and thank her.

The next day, I get to see a mail regarding the honour that I have got. In that mail, I get to see a forwarded mail by TJM in which she has recommended another girl’s name for the honour. But the head of the group has in fact picked me.

I am a bit cheesed off by this. Why did she have to tell me that she wanted me to get the honour when she had proposed someone else? Or, may be she actually wanted my name to be proposed but she was to forced to recommend another girl’s name by her group head?

I wouldn’t know because I can’t tell her due to someone’s else’s carelessness I got to see her forwarded mail and her proposal. I don’t want to embarrass TJM. May be my friendship with her too may be soured. She is a good girl. I am sure she wishes me well. I think that’s the right way to take it. And, I think, at least as of now, she is really my friend.
